I know I haven't been around in a very long time. I really don't have a good reason for it except that I have been very busy and I just haven't figured out how to add blogging into my schedule. Hopefully I will figure it out soon and I can make it a part of my business.

Hi everyone! I know that I have been neglecting this Blog for quite a while and I hope to truly fix that now. I know...I have said this before but this time I am really going to make it a regular part of my business activity. So with that said...here is the latest news from mmillsdesigns!

My Etsy shop is now exclusively going to be the home of my clearance sale items. All of my new jewelry and accessories will be sold from my website. I have completely redesigned my website and I would love some feedback.

I have also joined SRAJD! I am very excited about my membership and it is the next step up for my business.

I will be back soon with more news and new jewelry!

Where in the world have I been??

Hi! Yes I am still around and I am doing well.

I have been seriously neglecting my blog and I am so sorry about that. I honestly don't know how many readers I have but if anyone is out there...I am back and hope to be on here much more often.

So what has been going on? Well quite a bit has happened since my last blog entry, which was what? July??? Geez.... Anyway, most things I won't go into as to what has happened but I do have a few things I can share.

1) I moved back to GA at the end of 2009! It is so nice to be back in GA and all I can say now is that the NE is not for me and I am very happy to be away from there.
2) I have been working on getting a few more consignments. I have 3 now.....2 in CA and 1 in PA. I have a few leads on a few locations in the area I live in and I am following up on those.
3) Now that we are settled in and my studio is set back up, I am making jewelry as quickly as I can and I have started to list on Etsy again. I will also be listing on Artfire as well because I want to see how the same items sell on there in comparison to Etsy.

So, bare with me while I get some new items listed and please check my shop often to see what is new. =)

My weekend wore me out but I did really well. We had the Christmas in July sale for 3 days and I sold 12 pieces! I have been at my new location for 2 weeks and I have sold 14 pieces in that time. It is amazing!
This week I am working on getting several deadlines met. I have a local event on August 8th that I need to make new pieces for, I need to work on restocking my local location after selling so much over the weekend, I also need to work on restocking and reopening my Etsy shop and I have to get a lot of supplies ordered before I can even begin to make more pieces!

I also need to figure out how to set up my display a bit better for events and special sales. This past weekend was the first time I have ever had a special sale outdoors. I had to go buy a tent which is fine because it will hopefully get used quite a bit in the future. But, I realized that I don't really have any signage for my tent or table. So, I need to work on getting those things figured out and ordered before my next event on August 8th.

Guess that's it for now, I'd better get back to work! =)

I am soooooo sorry, it has been ages since I have posted in here! I have a pretty good excuse....really!

Business has really picked up for me. I made the decision a while ago to close my Etsy shop and concentrate on getting Custom Orders, Consignments and Wholesale business. All of my time and hard work has paid off!

I now have 2 consignments in CA and 1 in PA. At the consignment in PA I was given the front window to set up my display, very exciting! I have an order I am working on for a Christmas consignment in a Mall store here in PA, a Christmas In July sale this weekend and a community event on August 8th. So, as you can see I have been very busy but it has been a very positive thing for me.

I am now hoping to open my Etsy shop back up by the end of August once my last show is over and I see how much stock I have and need to make in order to stock up the Etsy shop to where I would like it to be. I am also planning on opening a destash shop on Etsy as well, hopefully also by the end of August.

So, stay tuned and I will try to not be gone so long next time. =)

I haven't been doing a very good job of updating have I? What can I say, things have been busy around here and not just with my jewelry.

Important Information....

I have been thinking about whether I want to make this blog strictly about mmillsdesigns or if I want to make it a blend of mmillsdesigns and some personal things as well. Well in the past few days something happened that helped me make up my mind.

My Dad had a few scary days this past weekend. This is the information he sent out to friends and family yesterday. I feel that the word needs to get out so I am posting it here. I am happy to say that he is OK and we are all glad that we have this information should something happen in the future.

Dear Friends:

This may be the most important message I have ever sent to anyone.

Last Friday afternoon I had a TIA. Did not do anything about it until Saturday afternoon. I should have called 911 Friday afternoon when I experienced the symptoms. I could have died!

TIA - Transient Ischemic Attack - <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transient_ischemic_attack>I am healthy: Exercise, good reports from cardiologist (quadruple bypass in late 1997) and from my endocrinologist (A1c of 5.9 last Friday morning), weight well under control; wonderful blood pressure; so how is this possible? I don't know, but it did happen! I spent Saturday night and Sunday morning in the ER and in a room at St. Luke's Hospital. Fortunately, I passed all the tests, including an MRI -- I now have one more test coming. ERs treat this VERY seriously!

The TIA is often thought of as a mini-stroke. A significant percentage of those suffering a TIA go on to experience the real thing, hemorrhagic stroke! Now I have to start closely monitoring my blood pressure, which until now had been consistently under 120/60.

Quoted from the St. Luke's Hospital "Stroke Education for Patients and Families" handbook (a gift from the hospital to all stroke patients):

Know the warning signs of stroke and call 911 IMMEDIATELY:

a. Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body
b. Sudden difficulty in speaking or understanding
c. Sudden loss of vision, especially in one eye
d. Sudden dizziness or loss of balance
e. Sudden severe headache

So, please read this message again. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Well, here I am! This is all very new to me so please bare with me while I get things set up.

I have finally decided to take the blog plunge and see what this is all about. I don't know how much I will update but I will try to make it at least every few days. I have a lot going on these days, but this could be helpful in many ways.
